WHAT IS AIRSOFT?

Airsoft is a sport like paintball. Instead of paintball markers shooting paint, airsoft guns shoot small plastic and biodegradable BBs with much less force.

Participants take part in scored competitive events, live action role playing (LARP) games, or realistic simulations for fun, friendship, and fitness.

WHO PLAYS AIRSOFT?

Players come from every background, and represent a wide cross section of Canadians.

You'll find people representing various ethnicities, religions, genders, and political beliefs.

You'll see lawyers, tradespeople, financial analysts, retail employees, engineers, veterans, and countless others coming together for sport.

It's no different than a local dodgeball league or softball team, and airsofters are just as passionate about their hobby and the unique team-based experiences they share with their friends.

WHY IS AIRSOFT IN TROUBLE?

On May 30, 2022, the Government of Canada introduced Bill C-21.

This bill reclassifies the toys airsofters and many paintball players use to play their game as replica firearms and lists them as prohibited devices.

If Bill C-21 passes, this small change would have a huge impact on the community in Canada, as it would prohibit sale and transfer of these toys. It would make it impossible for new players to start, and within a few short years, the airsoft community would die out.

Why Should I Care?

During an already challenging time, hundreds of businesses will close further contributing to unemployment and stress on our social welfare systems.

Millions of dollars in sales will be lost by small business and venues where events are hosted. Many of them have poured their life savings into turning their passion into source of employment for their community.

Tens of thousands of people across the country will lose their favourite recreational activity. You likely know someone that plays airsoft or paintball, but even if you don't, you can imagine how devastated someone would be if they lost their ability to work on their car, run marathons, or play in their softball league.

See who will be impacted and how
